Evidence Based

"Evidence-based practice is the conscientious explicit and judicious use of current best evidence in helping individual patients make decisions about their care in the light of their personal values and beliefs"

Best research evidence; clinically relevant research, especially from patient centered clinical research into the accuracy and precision. Not old or out-of-date evidence; New evidence from clinical research findings that are more powerful, more accurate, more efficacious, and safer.
Clinical expertise; The ability to use clinical skills and past experience to rapidly identify each patient's unique health state and diagnosis, their individual risks and benefits of potential interventions, and their personal values and expectations.
Patient values; The unique preferences, concerns and expectations each patient brings to a clinical encounter and which must be integrated into clinical decisions if they are to serve the patient.
Population-based "outcomes research" has repeatedly documented that those patients who do receive evidence-based therapies have better outcomes than those who don't.
